How a pizza guy caught the golf bug
It started like it does for everybody. One round turned into two, two turned into "just nine more," and suddenly I was visiting every course I could find and checking the forecast like a farmer. The bug bit, and it bit hard.
Somewhere along the way I noticed something. The part of my game that needed the most work was the same part everyone I played with was struggling with: the short game. Those little chips around the green, and the putt right after. It was also, by a mile, my favorite part of golf.
There's nothing like it. You pop a chip that lands soft, checks up and rolls right at the flag, then you walk up and drain the putt. That's an up and down, and that feeling is the whole reason this place exists.
So we built a spot for exactly that. Lights, music, a drink in your hand, and the most important (and most fun) shots in golf. Whether you're a scratch golfer sharpening your touch or a family that's never held a wedge, come chip, putt and pour with us.

Our vision
Make the short game the best night out in Grand Junction. Golfers get better without noticing, beginners fall in love with the game, and everybody leaves talking about the shot they stuck.
Clubs, food and the fine print
Clubs
- Bring your own chipper and putter. Always welcome.
- Or use ours, free with admission. We keep quality sets in four sizes:
- Leave an ID or your car keys when you check out house clubs. The person who books or starts the party checks them out, and adults leave theirs for the kids' sets.
- You get your ID or keys back the second the clubs come back.
Food and drinks
- Food trucks park on site on scheduled nights. Check What's going on.
- The shack has beer, wine, Gatorade, soda, chips, candy and peanuts.
- 21+ with a valid ID for alcohol. Drinks stay inside the rope line, and no outside alcohol.

Chip Abeyta
In golf, a birdie is one under par. Chip is a birdie in every sense: a regulation dimpled golf ball who sprouted wings, grew little orange birdie feet, and decided he'd rather hang out on the course than get whacked around it.
He wears a gold flat-brim cap with a big red A on the front, for the Abeyta family who built this place. He never goes anywhere without his trusty silver wedge.
You'll find him on every screen at Up & Down. He tips his cap when you stick a chip, loses his mind when you hole out, and gives you the slow, approving nod when your team takes over the leaderboard. Come up short, and he might just lose his pants.
- Made ofOne golf ball, two birdie wings, way too much confidence
- Catchphrase"Ooooookay… I see you."
- Favorite holeBump & Run, because he likes to roll
- Biggest fearWater hazards. Also the lost-and-found bin.
- Hidden talentHolding his pants up. Mostly.
